CINCINNATI, OH--(Marketwire - May 6, 2010) -  Datalliance today announced that Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, has selected the Datalliance VMI service to replace the company's internally developed Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) system. The company recently completed a successful pilot implementation with Datalliance VMI to ensure a smooth rollout to their extensive distributor network. Datalliance is the world's leading independent provider of Vendor Managed Inventory and related solutions -- managing over 13 million SKU's at 28,000 locations every day.

With one of the largest VMI programs in the electrical industry, Schneider Electric leverages the benefits of VMI to service their distributor partners. "We have been doing VMI for some time now, and it is an integral component in our success with our distributor network," said Bill Snyder, VP Channel Development, Schneider Electric. "VMI has proven to be a key tool in allowing us to make the best use of the distributors' inventory investment and maximize our collaboration with distributors."

Snyder continued by explaining the benefits of moving to Datalliance VMI. "Our internal system is costly to maintain when you consider the programming, technical support, and hardware costs. It's also a challenge to keep our VMI functionality up-to-date. With Datalliance, we feel that we can lower the total cost of our VMI program. At the same time, we will gain more comprehensive and robust VMI functionality that is continuously updated by Datalliance. Datalliance is the proven leader in the electrical industry and they have a very strong reference base of successful customers. Our focus is on our core business, and Datalliance has the expertise in VMI. Likewise, we plan to work with Datalliance to increase the functionality of the inventory tools and reporting that we offer to non-VMI distributors."

"Overall, Datalliance is a good match for us as we will now utilize the industry leading solution while reducing the resources and costs associated with our inventory management program."

Schneider Electric is taking a systematic approach to replacing their internal system with Datalliance, "We successfully completed a pilot program where we implemented Datalliance with a select number of distributors and will now begin to roll out Datalliance across our entire distributor network," said Snyder. "We look forward to the cost savings and functionality benefits of Datalliance as we get all of our distributors in our VMI program up and running."
