CORAL GABLES, FL--(Marketwire - May 10, 2010) - Odebrecht USA announces that it has been awarded a major hurricane flood-protection contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for the Jefferson Parish Lakefront community in the Greater New Orleans Area.
The project, valued at $175 million, consists of four individual pump stations on the South end of Lake Pontchartrain, approximately 11 miles northwest of downtown New Orleans in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.

Odebrecht previously completed a floodwall and two levee projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The new project includes the construction of Frontage Protection Floodwalls across the discharge basins at Pumping Stations Nos.1 through 4. Also included in the project's scope are the significant improvements to two existing Breakwaters at Pumping Stations Nos. 2 and 3. Site work also will include reconstruction of an access road bridge, modifications to existing pumping station discharge pipes, dewatering systems and deep excavation which will require the use of Temporary Retaining Structures (TRS).
