ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - May 17, 2010) - Richard (Rick) A. Walker has been elected President of the North Fulton Bar Association (NFBA) and was sworn in on May 15, 2010 by Judge James Matoney of the Alpharetta Municipal Court.
Other officers for the 2010/2011 year include John Hipes, president-elect; Janis Rosser, secretary; Ronald Dobelstein, treasurer; and Charles D. Gabriel, immediate past president. Tamar Oberman Faulhaber and Michael Penn are joining the board of directors, which also includes Michael Bishop, Michael O. Crawford and Thomas Salata. Continuing in their role as ex-officio board members are Hon. Christopher S. Brasher, Judge and Forrest Clinard.
"I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to be the 31st president of this bar association," said Walker. "Ours is a great profession, and I believe we all have an obligation to serve." Walker plans to continue NFBA programs such as sponsoring and coaching the High School Moot Court and providing speakers for National Law Day programs in North Fulton County schools. Additionally, he has two new initiatives for the coming year.
"In response to a request from Judge Matoney, we will develop and coordinate a Military Legal Assistance Program in North Fulton, which localizes efforts already begun by the State Bar of Georgia," Walker said. "To increase our participation in community charitable causes, we will provide an in-kind sponsorship for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Benefit Golf Invitational on October 26, 2010 at Atlanta National Golf Club in Milton."
Walker is the President and CEO of Falcon IP Capital, an Atlanta-based firm that specializes in innovation and intellectual property consulting. He is also Managing Counsel - Georgia of the law firm of McKoon, Williams & Haun. His areas of legal expertise include intellectual property law and corporate law. He is a registered patent attorney and entrepreneur. He also served for 14 years as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, and General Counsel of a NYSE-listed company. Walker was named one of the "Latest Generation of Atlanta CEO's and Power Brokers" by the Atlanta Journal Constitution in April, 2007.
