Tactical Communications Group Awarded Contract to Deliver Operator Simulation and Training Solution to U.S. Navy's Whidbey Island

Breakthrough New Win With EW Navy Unit Complements TCG's Significant U.S. Air Force Business

TEWKSBURY, MA--(Marketwire - May 25, 2010) - Tactical Communications Group (TCG), the leading independent supplier of tactical data link (TDL) software solutions for military test, training and operational users worldwide, announced the U.S. Navy has selected TCG's training software solution to provide realistic Link 16 training for operators at its Whidbey Island, Washington Naval Air Station.

Whidbey Island is the premier naval aviation installation in the Pacific Northwest and home of all Navy tactical electronic attack squadrons flying the EA-6B Prowler and EA-18G Growler. The U.S. Navy's West Coast EA-6B / EA-18G training squadron awarded this new contract to TCG to fulfill a requirement to train pilots and ground operational personnel on tactical data link tactics, techniques, and procedures, so pilots and operators can "train as they fight" using TCG's Ground Tactical Data Link System (GTS). TCG's GTS solution will allow the Navy's EA-6B Prowler and EA-18G Growler operators at Whidbey Island -- in the air and on the ground -- to have connectivity and visibility into their Link 16-equipped aircraft operations, and provide these operators crucial training on Link 16 supported missions.

"The GTS provides the U.S. Navy with proven TDL training technology they did not have previously, and gives their pilots the most realistic, flexible, and robust simulation and training tool on the market," said Marty McDonough, President and CEO of TCG. "Similar to our many past successes with the U.S. Air Force, now naval commanders and warfighters have the ability to connect and share data across disparate battlefield communications systems for enhanced command and control, which is crucial when making time-sensitive decisions on the fly. We are very pleased with this important new win with the U.S. Navy Operational community, and look forward to building on this success and providing more innovative test, training and operational solutions to other U.S. Naval bases."

TCG's Ground Tactical Data Link System (GTS)
TCG's GTS solution is a complete, highly realistic tactical training and simulation system for terrestrial TDL networks. Using GTS, military air operators can now easily create live operational tactical data link networks from the ground, and provide highly efficient, cost-effective and realistic TDL training. GTS is also a transportable TDL network ground station that features an advanced, user friendly Terminal Control Wizard which greatly simplifies and automates the process of Link 16 network entry. GTS also realistically replicates combat scenarios with multiple virtual participants and provides dual screens of both the entire tactical situation and cockpit display emulation of any selected aircraft for improved real-time situational awareness.
