Two CORPAK MedSystems Solutions Selected by Premier healthcare alliance(TM) for Innovation Showcase

CORPAK Only Company to Have Two Products in Showcase That Highlights Healthcare Quality Improvement and Innovation

WHEELING, IL--(Marketwire - June 8, 2010) -  CORPAK MedSystems is among an elite group of companies selected to participate in Premier healthcare alliance's Innovation Celebration, and was the only company to have two solutions featured. The annual event celebrates advances in healthcare and highlights healthcare industry companies, such as CORPAK, that are committed to innovation and improving patient outcomes.

CORPAK Innovations Improve Enteral/Vascular Access

The Innovation Celebration, held June 8, 2010, featured 23 medical innovations that were selected by a committee of clinicians and other Premier hospital members based on their potential to improve the healthcare industry. These new devices and products, which can impact the safety, quality and cost-effectiveness of care, were showcased to more than 3,000 healthcare providers and experts.

CORPAK manufactures and markets enteral/vascular access devices used primarily in hospital and surgery acute care settings. Products selected for the Innovation Celebration were:

  • CORTRAK® Enteral Access System - a bedside computer-assisted, real-time visual aid for the safe and accurate placement of enteral feeding tubes. The CORTRAK system's 2-D and 3-D visual guidance can replace X-rays traditionally used for confirming feeding tube placement, reducing procedural costs and allowing patients to obtain their therapy sooner, thereby improving clinical outcomes.

  • Navigator® BioNavigation® System - a bedside visual and audio aid for the accurate placement of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs). Similar to CORTRAK, the patented technology determines the position of vascular catheters placed at the patient bedside, eliminating the need to transfer patients to IR for the procedure and reducing multiple confirmatory X-rays.

"We are very pleased to have two of our key products selected as Innovation Celebration product winners, confirming our focus on developing leading-edge products that address unmet medical needs," said Tom Kuhn, CEO of CORPAK MedSystems. "CORPAK is committed to creating innovative products in the Enteral Device and IV Access markets that are safe and cost effective, and which improve efficiencies for clinicians as well as patient outcomes."

The Innovation Celebration was part of the 2010 Premier Annual Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in Washington DC. Basic criteria for selection included solutions that displayed uniqueness, as well as solutions that have an impact on an unmet medical need.

"Healthcare providers need to be up-to-date on latest concepts and developments regarding new devices, products and therapies which can impact the cost and quality of care," said Premier Purchasing Partners President Mike Alkire. "These suppliers are committed to innovation that leads to improved quality and reduced costs, and we're pleased to showcase their efforts to our alliance members."

Consideration for the Innovation Celebration was open to all suppliers, regardless of whether the company contracts with Premier. Overall, Premier contracts with more than 800 suppliers, including CORPAK.
