Harvey Englander Statement on Congresswoman Jane Harman's Re-Election

LOS ANGELES, June 9, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Harvey Englander, campaign consultant for Congresswoman Jane Harman re-election campaign, released the following statement:

"The election results show that the voters of the 36th Congressional District want a representative who works hard at saving and creating jobs, protecting the environment, strongly supports choice and gay rights--and respects the aerospace legacy of the district. The voters of the 36th District do not support ideologically driven candidates, whether from the right or from the left.

The opponent spent 4 years campaigning for this seat. She spent the past 18 months attacking Congresswoman Harman's record and her integrity. By her own account, the opponent claims to have spent almost ½ million dollars, yet she received about the same percentage of votes as her previous campaign four years ago.  The election results prove that Congresswoman Harman's record and her reputation are strongly supported by the voters.

The national media inaccurately reported that this was going to be a close election – they were wrong.  Congresswoman Harman's overwhelming victory in this campaign is a sign that 36th District voters know that Jane Harman has been representing their interests in Washington DC and that she has strong and formidable support across the district as the fall campaign gets underway."
