National Business Group on Health Honors Cerner Corporation as One of Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles

Cerner Corporation Receives Platinum Award

WASHINGTON and KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 14, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Business Group on Health, (NBGH), a non-profit association of large employers, today honors Cerner Corporation (Nasdaq:CERN) for its commitment and dedication to promoting a healthy workplace and encouraging their associates and families to support and maintain healthy lifestyles.

Cerner received the platinum award for its health and wellness programs. Cerner was among 66 employers that received the 2010 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award at the Leadership Summit sponsored by the NBGH's Institute on Innovation in Workforce Well-being. This marks the second year Cerner has been recognized by the NBGH for innovative health and wellness programs.

"Cerner is committed to improving and promoting healthy lifestyles for individuals around the globe," said Julie Wilson, Cerner chief people officer. "Cerner partners with its associates to create innovative programs that enable and encourage active management of their health. We are pleased to be recognized as a health and wellness leader."

Cerner's U.S. health plan covers approximately 11,000 lives, with a large majority of them in the Kansas City area. All Cerner associates have access to common Internet tools which give them up-to-date information regarding their health plan benefits. Cerner's senior leadership shares a dedication to supporting associates' health and wellness. This is evidenced by a variety of investments, including an on-site clinic and pharmacy, a large-scale campus fitness center, and targeted promotion of disease and condition management through trained wellness coaches.

"We are delighted to recognize Cerner for its innovation and commitment to providing lifestyle improvement programs designed to encourage healthier lifestyles for their associates," said Helen Darling, president of the National Business Group on Health. "Cerner and its management team recognize just how important a healthy workforce is to increasing productivity and controlling healthcare costs, and we congratulate them on receiving this award."

Winners of the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles awards were honored in one of three categories: Platinum, for established workplace well-being programs with measurable success and documented outcomes; Gold, for creating cultural and environmental changes that support employees who are committed to long-term behavior changes; and Silver, for employers who have launched significant programs or services to promote living a healthier lifestyle.
