Bresnan Communications Selects Juniper Networks to Enable Next-Generation Subscriber Services

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - June 22, 2010) -  Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) announced today that Bresnan Communications, a leading broadband telecommunications provider, has deployed Juniper's solutions for its next-generation MPLS network, enabling it to consolidate its network into a converged platform capable of supporting new feature-rich subscriber services. As part of its upgrade, Bresnan deployed Juniper MX480 Universal Edge Routers powered by Junos® Software to properly scale and manage traffic to support periods of varying loads of network activity.

"The combination of Juniper's MPLS features and the opportunity for future growth with the MX Series is why we selected Juniper for our customer-focused business," said Pragash Pillai, senior vice president of engineering and technology at Bresnan Communications.

In addition to the MX Series, Juniper's SRX Series Services Gateways is enabling Bresnan to integrate Junos-based security at scale for its growing network infrastructure.

"Subscribers are demanding new applications and enhanced bandwidth-intensive services, which require a new network architecture optimized to deliver a media-rich experience today and in the future," said Mike Marcellin, vice president of product marketing, Juniper Networks. "Bresnan's migration to a next-generation converged network gives them a competitive edge, focused on providing their customers with an ongoing stream of advanced services."

Bresnan also engaged the Juniper Networks Professional Services team to develop the design and topology of the network and create methods of procedures and configurations for five sites, including core sites in Missoula and Billings, Montana. This design work served as the genesis for the next-generation network.

Bresnan Communications serves more than 320,000 customers throughout Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Utah. Bresnan's advanced services and features include high-definition digital TV with video-on-demand, super high-speed Internet and digital phone.
