Unlike current cleanup methods that employ hundreds of persons, each gathering one shovel full of oil soaked sand or tar balls at a time and placing it in a 50 gallon garbage bag for disposal at a hazardous waste landfill, PLANET and its partners utilize heavy equipment to process the oil soaked sand.
PLANET's cleanup process uses Earthworks Environmental Inc.'s proprietary soil washing equipment that can process up to 100 metric tons of sand per day per unit. Heavy equipment is used to gather the oil soaked sand and delivered to a processing unit, where the sand is cleaned and sterilized using PetroLuxus products. The beach sand is remediated and the oil is recovered for resale. The process can be performed directly on the beach or a remote designated offsite location. This methodology provides immense cost savings in transportation and disposal costs.
PLANET's PetroLuxus™ products are non-toxic, environmentally friendly compound developed to dislodge hydrocarbons from virtually all natural and man-made structures. PetroLuxus breaks water/oil emulsion resulting in clean separation for the harvesting of the oil. It also sheds water and contaminants from oil rendering a clean crude product for recovery.
