Cision Contest Will Send Winner to Sarah Evans' #journchat 'LIVE From New York' Event

CHICAGO, July 8, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cision, the leading provider of software, services and tools for the media and public relations industry, and the sponsor of Sarah Evans' #journchat, today announced a contest that will send the winner to #journchat LIVE from the Midtown Manhattan headquarters of NBC News in early August.

The special edition of #journchat LIVE takes place on Monday, August 9, 2010, from 8 to 10 p.m. EDT at NBC News' headquarters at "30 Rock," NBC's historic studio and broadcast complex at Rockefeller Plaza.

For the past two-and-a-half years, journalists, PR pros, bloggers, students and faculty have joined together via Twitter on #journchat to talk about the journalism industry. LIVE editions started last year and bring together participants both in person and on Twitter—this time for a live chat hosted by NBC News.

Attendees will get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the newsroom, helping journalists learn more about how NBC's news division operates and provide PR pros with tips on how to better pitch and interact with the network.  The LIVE chat will provide different perspectives on the various roles within NBC – such as anchor, web editor, tech reporter, producers, bloggers, and the social media director.

Cision's online contest will send the winner to New York to attend the event in person.

To enter, contestants must visit us.cision.com/nyc-journchat and post a link to a video, picture, or blog post "telling us why you love Cision and #journchat – and why you should join us at NBC News for #journchat LIVE." The author of the most compelling piece of content will attend the event with Evans and Heidi Sullivan, Cision's vice president, media research.

"Cision, Sarah Evans and #journchat share the common goal of bringing the public relations and media communities closer together," Sullivan said.

"This extraordinary chat – hosted by the news division of one of the world's legendary broadcast networks – will strengthen the bridges being built among journalists, bloggers and professional communicators, enabled by visionaries like Sarah and Ryan Osborn, NBC's social media director," she said. "We're thrilled to be associated with it."
