Compuware Gomez Launches New International Benchmarks

New Benchmarks for Asia Pacific, Central and South America, and Europe More Than Double the Number of Gomez Benchmarks Worldwide

DETROIT, Aug. 17, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Gomez, the web performance division of Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR), today launched several new international industry benchmarks that provide companies with an unbiased view of the state of web and mobile site performance to improve customer experiences online, provide brand support and drive revenue.

Gomez's benchmarks, recognized as a comprehensive set of global independent web performance metrics, have been expanded to include benchmarks in eight new countries: Australia, Brazil, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Singapore and Sweden. These new international benchmarks measure the performance of the home page--the front door--of the websites of the selected companies in each industry.

"Because benchmarking helps companies to better understand the connection between web and mobile application performance, business results, and improved process discipline, it has become a valuable tool in today's competitive online marketplace among leading international companies," said Matt Poepsel, VP Performance Strategies, Gomez. "The demand for benchmark metrics has been steadily increasing across the globe, and we are meeting that demand by expanding our benchmarks in eight new countries, with more to come."

New international home page benchmarks include:

  • Australia Benchmarks: Australia Banking, Australia Insurance
  • Brazil Benchmarks: Brazil Banking, Brazil Retail, Brazil Telco
  • France Benchmark: France CAC40
  • Hong Kong Benchmarks: Hong Kong Banking, Hong Kong Employment, Hong Kong Government, Hong Kong Hotels, Hong Kong Insurance, Hong Kong Media Entertainment, Hong Kong Retail, Hong Kong Telecom, Hong Kong Transportation

Gomez has doubled the number of global web performance benchmarks it has published for over ten years to more than 100 that include more than 2,000 companies in dozens of industries. Gomez web benchmarks involve testing the websites of target companies using a subset of the Gomez Network, which features more than 150 high-bandwidth "backbone" locations and more than 150,000 actual end-user "Last Mile" locations around the world. Gomez Mobile benchmarks test mobile-specific versions of target websites. These are typically "streamlined" versions of websites that were created specifically with the mobile form factor and throughput speeds in mind. Gomez Business Process benchmarks measure typical multistep processes--such as purchasing a product or performing a stock trade--across major brands in the same industry.
