Ecology and Environment, Inc. (E & E) and Engineering Consulting Services, Inc. (ECSI) Jointly Form ECSI, LLC

LANCASTER, NY--(Marketwire - August 24, 2010) -  Ecology and Environment, Inc. (NASDAQ: EEI) has successfully concluded negotiations with Engineering Consulting Services, Inc. (ECSI) of Lexington, KY, a consulting firm providing integrated engineering, environmental, energy and natural resources services to the mining and aggregates industry in Kentucky and surrounding regions. E&E and ECSI, Inc. have jointly formed a new entity to be known as ECSI, LLC.

The two firms have an established, decade-long working relationship and have partnered to win multi-million dollar projects together. Both parties believe that, with access to E & E's multi-disciplinary global resources, ECSI can offer a diversified scope of services to an expanded geographic area while strengthening its position as a regional leader in the mining and aggregates market.

ECSI has expanded through controlled and steady growth throughout its 27-year history. Today, ECSI operates five offices in Kentucky and West Virginia with over 50 employees and $4 to $5 million in annual sales. President and CEO Steve Gardner sees opportunity in ECSI's new relationship with E & E: "This is a very unique business arrangement that closely matches the character and culture we have built at ECSI over the past 27 years. We are now partnered with E & E in a new firm which greatly expands the range of services and geographic area we can cover. It means better service for our existing clients and the opportunity for us to help serve E & E's clients worldwide. We expect the rapid expansion of our business and anticipate hiring many additional engineers, scientists and support personnel in the near future. We now have an international reach while keeping a local presence." Gardner will serve as the General Manager of the newly formed LLC.

"Our strengths and goals complement one another," said E & E President and CEO Kevin Neumaier. "Together with ESCI, E & E will expand its geographic presence in the Kentucky and West Virginia region and augment the company's mining sector capabilities worldwide. We've successfully collaborated on projects with ECSI for many years and we're pleased that they will be a partner going forward."

E & E is a global leader in environmental management, employing over 1,100 professionals in 85 engineering and scientific disciplines in offices nationwide and around the world. Over the past 40 years, Ecology and Environment, Inc. has completed more than 45,000 projects for a wide variety of clients in 84 countries, providing environmental solutions in nearly every ecosystem on the planet.
