North Park University Holds Free Concert for Families of Children With Autism and Special Needs

North Park University Concert Band Presents "Exceptional Music for Exceptional Families"


CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - September 21, 2010) -  The North Park University Concert Band conducted by Dr. Joe Lill will present a free concert for families of children with autism and special needs, with music ranging from Disney movie favorites to the classical compositions of Gustav Holst and Percy Grainger.

"There is a tremendous need for this kind of family-friendly event for children with autism and those with special needs in the city of Chicago," said Dr. Joe Lill, Director of Bands for the North Park University School of Music. "Our program will include standard and classical favorites and theme music from shows such as Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean. The entire 45-member North Park University Concert Band is thrilled to be playing a program ranging from lighter fare to music of renowned composers for this particular audience."

The concert is at North Park University's Anderson Chapel, at the corner of Kedzie and Spaulding Avenues, Saturday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the hour-long concert is free, but the public is asked to reserve tickets by calling (773) 244-5625. Parking is available on the street and on campus lots. The concert facility is wheelchair-suitable, and welcoming and safe for individuals with special considerations.
