Tring Communications, as Multi-Play Provider, Chooses Juniper Networks to Help Extend Services Across Albania

New Subscriber Management Solution Supports Network Monetization

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - September 27, 2010) -  Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) today announced that Tring Communications, a leading provider of Internet, phone and digital television services in Albania, has implemented a subscriber management and security solution based on Juniper's new network architecture, optimized to enhance the subscriber experience of rapidly growing IP-based applications, including video, while also improving the economics of scaling and maintaining the network infrastructure. Based on Juniper Networks MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers, EX Series Ethernet Switches and SRX Series Services Gateways, the new infrastructure has been implemented to provide Tring Communications with the scale and performance needed to deliver bandwidth-hungry, quality-dependent next-generation applications successfully.

"Our legacy network was constrained to a limited number of subscribers and couldn't be extended any further," said George Koulogiannis, Chief Executive Officer, Tring Communications. "We chose Juniper for the new platform because of the subscriber management feature in the MX Series. This, combined with Juniper's service, security and bandwidth scale advantages, provides us with a fully-featured platform to support long-term service and subscriber growth. Juniper has helped us to monetize the network more effectively, by enabling value-added services for our content provider customers -- we are no longer just a 'dumb pipe' provider."

By leveraging automated per-subscriber service personalization features in the MX Series, Tring Communications can actively manage QoS for usage-based billing and access, and configure broadband services including Internet access, gaming, IPTV and Video on Demand (VoD) as well as subscriber wholesaling. Enhanced service personalization also enhances flexibility for future service deployments and can be integrated through APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) to third party applications, providing a unified content delivery network.

By running Junos® across its routing, switching and security deployment as a single network operating system, Tring Communications has a centralized architecture to reduce cost and complexity in the network. The MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers deliver high port-density routing and switching for service providers and enterprises. Juniper Networks EX4200 Series Ethernet Switches provide the highest levels of availability for demanding converged data, voice and video environments, delivering the most reliable platform for unifying enterprise communications. The SRX Series Services Gateways provide the essential capabilities necessary to connect, secure, and manage enterprise and service provider networks.

"Service providers are experiencing a variety of processing and scaling demands due to the growth of Ethernet traffic at the edge of the network, set against the need to drive out cost," said Mike Marcellin, vice president, product marketing, Infrastructure Products and Junos Ready Software, Juniper Networks. "The deployment at Tring is a great example of the power of one operating system. Junos can help simplify network infrastructure and achieve greater levels of performance, which improves the customer experience, while delivering a significantly lower total cost of ownership."

Juniper's partner on the Tring Communications deployment was Kestrel Information Systems S.A., a provider of integrated information technology and telecommunications solutions in Greece, Cyprus and the Balkan countries.
