Amended Letter of Award for Drilling Contract


ATHENS, GREECE--(Marketwire - October 4, 2010) -  DryShips Inc. (the "Company" or "DryShips") (NASDAQ: DRYS), a global provider of marine transportation services for drybulk cargoes and off-shore contract drilling oil services, announced today that its fully-owned subsidiary Ocean Rig UDW Inc. has secured an additional 60 days of employment by amending the previously announced Letter of Award with an American exploration company.

Mr. George Economou, Chairman and CEO of DryShips Inc. and interim CEO of Ocean Rig UDW Inc., said:
