EMS Unveils New Ruggedized Micro-Modular Data Center

CHANDLER, Ariz., Oct. 6, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The increasing demand for outdoor computing resources in remote locations of the world has led Elliptical Mobile Solutions to introduce a more ruggedized version of its C3-S.P.E.A.R. Micro-Modular Data Center.

The C3-S.P.E.A.R. Rugged Terrain, dubbed C3RT, provides tremendous versatility, reliability and durability in a 24U form factor, according to EMS CEO Bill Stockwell.

Fully deployable in a matter of weeks, the C3RT provides a complete turnkey solution that can operate in remote or nonstandard locations around the world where power and network connectivity exist, he said.

Stockwell sees this product as having enormous applications to the military, homeland security, emergency management, environmental field studies, the oil and gas industry and the film industry due to the need to house and protect the massive amounts of real time data these industries generate.

"With the proper onboard equipment, the C3RT is capable of handling the acquisition, capture and archiving of real time data regardless of location or terrain," he said. "This provides business continuity through a highly available, flexible solution."

Features of the C3RT include:

  • NEMA 12 environmental package to protect equipment within the enclosure from dust and debris
  • Optional NEMA 4 upgrade to shield equipment from a wide range of demanding conditions such as dirt, windblown dust, rain, ice, sleet and snow
  • Front wheel drive to travel over rocks, grass and gravel
  • Foam filled pneumatic wheels and casters to eliminate flat tires
  • A slide out battery compartment for easy maintenance

Like the C3-S.P.E.A.R. the C3RT comes equipped with:

  • Power assisted mobility allowing one person to move up to 1,000 pounds of rack-mounted equipment up a 6 percent grade
  • Patented closed loop cooling
  • Patented adaptive suspension to protect rack-mounted equipment from vibration, motion and shock
  • Tamperproof Cyberlock Security
  • Active fire suppression that puts out a fire before it can damage equipment
  • Industry standard 19" racks that are vendor agnostic

"We've created a mobile data center that stands up to the stress of the outdoors and delivers high performance at the same time," Stockwell said. "The C3RT is the most viable and versatile solution on the market today."
