Roderick said that the video highlights how e-waste is a growing problem and families need to be conscious about how they dispose of electronics. "According to Allen Hershkowitz, a senior scientist and authority on waste management at the National Resources Defense Council, in 2005 alone, almost 2 million tons of e-waste were landfilled. While toxic materials comprise only a small amount of this volume, it doesn't take much lead or mercury to contaminate an area's soil or water supply.
