IdentityMine extends the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) experience to Windows Phone 7 with official IMDb WP7 application

New mobile application extends IMDb's vast database of movie trivia into a visually rich multimedia experience

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - October 25, 2010) -  Today, IdentityMine, Inc., an emerging leader in application and user interface development for rich digital interactive user experiences, announced that it has extended the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) to the Windows® Phone 7 platform. Designed and developed by IdentityMine for IMDb, the application provides Windows Phone 7 users with a rich multimedia experience specifically designed for mobile users.

In collaboration with IMDb and Microsoft, IdentityMine transformed IMDb's database content into an appealing, visual and gesture-based application for Windows Phone 7. New features include daily application tile image updates, panorama views, and the ability to receive randomly selected IMDb movie recommendations by shaking the phone and using the "Surprise Me" feature. Users can also find show times, watch trailers, browse photo galleries, get TV listings, find DVD and Blu-ray releases, explore popular charts and share movie information. The application makes it easy for users to purchase DVDs and Blu-rays via Amazon.com (which owns IMDb). The application will be available in English US, English UK, French and German.

"Applying cutting-edge technology and design expertise to custom complex applications for top-tier clients is our sweet spot," said Chad Brown, SVP of sales and marketing, IdentityMine. "By partnering with IMDb for their official WP7 application, we delivered a visually rich and engaging multimedia experience for our users on the Windows Phone 7 platform. Users can access IMDb's vast collection of movie detail, trivia, filming locations, reviews and fan sites on the platform as an extension of our easy-to-search database. We focused on fun, discovery and exploration with this application. We're really proud of the result."

"Our goal was to extend the IMDb brand by combining art and technology to produce an entertaining and useful mobile application for WP7," said Jonah Sterling, group creative director, IdentityMine. "Our team of Usability Experts created the IMDb application for the WP7 mobile platform to deliver all the functionality of its online counterpart along with specially crafted features for this device, so that WP7 users can have a complete and unique IMDb experience. Performance is critical to user experience; IMDb's got a ton of data, and it's available very quickly with this application."

To understand the complexities and deliver on all the goals of this project, IdentityMine researched IMDb's business needs, user profile, movie assets and technology capabilities and created a custom application web development. IdentityMine's mobile application developers worked with Silverlight and Microsoft web services and user interface design tools to integrate IMDb's enormous database of 1,633,300 titles and 3,649,234 names with a graphical interface design that users could easily access, search, sort and engage with. The multi-touch application has a simple design and takes advantage of the Metro Style -- big text, clean typography, chromeless and panoramic design, simple colors, and fluid and natural animation are some of the main pillars of the Metro design. Users are able to scroll quickly through plot summaries, top billed casts, news and reviews. IMDb is one of six applications IdentityMine created for Windows Phone 7.
