HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - November 11, 2010) - Quantum Energy Partners, a leading private equity firm in the global energy industry, is pleased to announce the expansion of their investment team with the appointment of Alan Clemens as Chief of Geology and Geophysics. He will be a senior member of the technical team and a key addition to Quantum given his deep industry expertise, knowledge of both conventional and unconventional plays, exploitation and exploration, and an impressive track record of organic growth and value creation at the organizations he has been tied with over time.
Alan was most recently the Vice President and Chief Geoscientist at Southwestern Energy Company where he was instrumental in helping the company grow from a market capitalization of $200 million in 1998 to $13 billion in 2010. From his original position as Staff Geophysicist, Alan steadily increased his responsibilities and went on to lead the company's exploration efforts in multiple basins throughout the United States in addition to managing Southwestern's geology, geophysics, land, reservoir, technical, and regulatory teams in the Arkansas Fayetteville Shale. Along with his responsibilities as Chief Geoscientist, Alan was also a vital contributor to Southwestern's New Ventures team providing technical and strategic leadership on new and existing projects.
Prior to Southwestern, Alan worked in various positions with Zilkha Energy where he was responsible for the generation, technical evaluation and recommendations for the company's offshore lease sale efforts. His technical leadership helped Zilkha become recognized as a leader in the Gulf of Mexico federal lease sales. At the time of its sale in 1998, Zilkha was the largest federal leaseholder in less than 600 feet of water on the continental shelf. Prior to joining Zilkha, Alan previously worked at Windrock Capital Ltd. (a predecessor institution related to Quantum), Enron Oil and Gas, Texas Oil & Gas, and Mobil Oil where he started his career over 30 years ago.
