Practical Law Company Gives Back to Legal Community With Pro Bono Net Alliance

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - November 15, 2010) - Pro Bono Net, a nonprofit leader in innovative programs that increase access to justice, today announced its new alliance with Practical Law Company (PLC). Practical Law Company provides online practical know-how to law firms, law departments and law schools.

Through this alliance, PLC will offer Pro Bono Net members educational opportunities in various areas of law via webinars and other initiatives. In addition, PLC will work with Pro Bono Net to explore additional ways PLC can assist the pro bono community.

Pro Bono Net's flagship site, www.probono.net, helps thousands of attorneys nationwide connect with legal aid organizations in their communities, find opportunities for meaningful pro bono work and obtain the training and support they need to be more effective advocates for their clients. Lawyers rely on PLC for up-to-date, easily accessible information that helps get them up to speed quickly and tackle unfamiliar areas of law.

"We are thrilled to be able to give back to the legal community and support the important services that Pro Bono Net provides," explained Jeroen Plink, Practical Law Company's CEO. "Practical Law Company and Pro Bono Net share the same goal of helping lawyers to be more effective for clients, and we are proud to help Pro Bono Net further its important work."

"There is an overwhelming need for lawyers to help individuals and families reeling from the impact of the economic downturn; issues such as foreclosure, eviction and loss of benefits are having a devastating effect on communities across the country," said Mark O'Brien, Executive Director of Pro Bono Net. "The commitment of Practical Law Company and our other sponsors helps Pro Bono Net continue to develop innovative programs to connect people in need with high-quality, free legal aid, and empower them to help themselves."

Pro Bono Net is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing access to justice through innovative uses of technology and increased volunteer lawyer participation. Pro Bono Net uses innovative web-based platforms -- www.probono.net, www.lawhelp.org and www.lawhelpinteractive.org -- to recruit and support volunteer lawyers and provide direct information and tools for self representation to low-income communities. Pro Bono Net has also developed Pro Bono Manager, pro bono practice management software that helps AmLaw 200 law firms increase pro bono participation, manage pro bono caseloads more efficiently and raise internal and external awareness of pro bono efforts. For more information, please visit www.probono.net.
