Venus Williams and EA SPORTS Give YWCA Greater Los Angeles Girls Gift of Fitness as Thanksgiving Treat; EA SPORTS Donates $50,000 of Active 2 Gaming Equipment and Venus Stops by for One on One Workout

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - November 22, 2010) - Local YWCA Greater Los Angeles Job Corps girls received the best Thanksgiving treat ever last week when tennis pro Venus Williams stopped by their Studio Club location for a one on one workout and fitness demonstration. EA SPORTS brought in Williams to launch the girls' holiday season with the gift of fitness.

Recently, EA SPORTS signed on to become a President's Challenge Advocate and promote the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA). PALA is for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities and is a great way to engage in and maintain a healthy lifestyle through physical activity. EA SPORTS is also making a $50,000 donation in EA SPORTS Active 2 -- an innovative digital fitness program that offers personalized, customizable workouts on gaming consoles to YWCA Greater Los Angeles Job Corps to help promote participation in the PALA.

The day was replete with Thanksgiving blessings because the local Baldwin Hills Walmart store got wind of the girls' upcoming exciting experience the day before it happened and generously donated tennis shoes and workout clothes for all 100 girls, many who did not have workout clothes of their own.

The YWCA GLA Job Corps program services local youth ages 16 - 24 years old; many who are at risk, recently emancipated foster children or previously homeless. The program provides up to 2 years of free housing, medical coverage and training in over 45 vocations to nurture the participants into strong, self-sufficient, contributing citizens. The YWCA has received several awards in 2010 for the quality of its Job Corps program including #1 in the Region for Post Graduate Job Placement.
