MARIMEKKO SHOP OPENS IN MALMÖ                                                   

Marimekko's latest retail shop is celebrating its opening today in Malmö,       
Sweden. The shop, which opened to the public on 15 November 2010, carries the   
whole range of Marimekko products: printed fabrics and other interior decoration
products as well as clothes, bags and accessories. The approximately            
125-square-metre shop has an excellent location on a pleasant and busy shopping 
street in the city centre. The immediate neighbours include the Form/Design     
Center, a popular meeting place for people interested in design and             
architecture, which holds numerous exhibitions and seminars each year.          

Sweden and the other Nordic countries have been like another domestic market for
Marimekko for decades, and the company seeks to further underpin its position in
this market. The newly opened shop in Malmö is a continuation of the work,      
started in 2009, to expand the distribution network. Last year Marimekko's shop 
in Stockholm was expanded and remodelled, and a new concept store was opened in 
Copenhagen.                                                                     

“Malmö is a highly central city in Southern Sweden, where Marimekko is already  
very well known. By opening a shop based on our updated retail store concept in 
the city, we aim to further reinforce our presence in this area. As Sweden's    
third-largest city, Malmö is also attractive to us because of its large customer
flows. The Öresund bridge merges Malmö and Copenhagen into the Nordic region's  
largest metropolitan area, with some 2.4 million inhabitants. We have now two   
retail shops of our own in Sweden, and I see potential in the market for more   
shops in the future,” says Mika Ihamuotila, President and CEO of Marimekko.     

At the moment there are a total of 83 Marimekko stores in Finland and abroad, of
which 27 are company's own retail shops. Of these 22 are in Finland and five    
abroad: in Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Malmö and Stockholm.
