ScaleVP Promotes Stacey Curry Bishop, Andy Vitus to Partner; Ben Fu to Principal

Venture Capital Firm Hires Rishi Taparia and Osman Ahmed as Analysts

FOSTER CITY, CA--(Marketwire - December 3, 2010) - Scale Venture Partners today announced the promotions of Stacey Curry Bishop and Andy Vitus from Principal to Partner and Ben Fu from Senior Associate to Principal. All three work on the firm's technology investing team. ScaleVP also announced that it has hired Rishi Taparia and Osman Ahmed as analysts.

Promotions

Stacey Curry Bishop, Partner
Stacey joined ScaleVP in 1999 and focuses on software-as-a-service (SaaS), Consumer Internet and digital media. Stacey originated investments in Omniture, acquired by Adobe for $1.8 billion in 2009, and ExactTarget. 

Currently serving on the board of NComputing, Stacey also works closely with many of ScaleVP's other portfolio companies, including Arena, Box.net, HubSpot, and Tripwire, among others.

Prior to joining ScaleVP, Stacey specialized in M&A within Bank of America's Corporate Development Group, worked in Morgan Stanley Equity Research, and was in Sales and Marketing at Syntel, an IT services firm. Stacey holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from the University of Michigan.

Andy Vitus, Partner
Andy Vitus joined ScaleVP in 2003. He holds board seats with Entone and Innovion, and has worked closely with Auvitek, Enpirion and Picolight. Andy focuses on the firm's investments in next-generation enterprise software and new datacenter technologies, including virtualization and cloud computing. Additionally, his area of expertise includes innovations in consumer electronics and components.

Prior to joining ScaleVP in 2003, Andy worked as an engineer for Electronics for Imaging, designing embedded print server platforms and video compression circuits. Previously, he was a software engineer for De Beers Research Labs, doing research on computer vision for both medical and mining applications. Andy earned an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Ben Fu, Principal
Ben joined Scale Venture Partners in 2006, and focuses on Internet, mobile, and enterprise software investments. He works closely with portfolio companies BrightRoll, Box.net, JasperSoft, Scale Computing and HubSpot.

Prior to Scale Venture Partners, Ben was a Senior Sales Engineer with IMLogic Inc., a security software company acquired by Symantec Corp. Before joining IMLogic, Ben held technical sales positions with Akamai Technologies. Ben holds an MEng and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

New ScaleVP Analysts

Rishi Taparia, Analyst
Rishi Taparia joined ScaleVP from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was a Senior Analyst in the bank's Financial Institutions and Technology M&A Group, based in New York and Palo Alto. There, Rishi provided advisory services to technology firms across a range of financial transactions including mergers, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts and joint ventures. He also helped identify acquisition and investment opportunities for clients.

Rishi graduated with honors from Northwestern University with a BA degree in Economics and Communications.

Osman Ahmed, Analyst
Before joining ScaleVP, Osman Ahmed was an investment banking analyst in the Healthcare Group at Stifel Nicolaus Weisel and the predecessor firm, Thomas Weisel Partners, LLC in San Francisco. During his two years with Thomas Weisel Partners, Osman worked on financing and M&A transactions involving biotechnology, medical device, specialty pharmaceutical, and healthcare information technology companies.

Osman graduated from the University of Southern California: Viterbi School of Engineering with a BS in Computer Science.
