Off Campus Student Housing Communities in NC, FL & AL Opening in 2011

Sterling University Housing Seeks LEED Certification for Two of Its New Student Apartments, Preleasing Underway

GREENSBORO, NC--(Marketwire - December 30, 2010) -  Sterling University Housing, a green developer and national leader in off campus student housing, will open three new high-end student apartment communities in 2011. Preleasing is underway at all three communities, two of which are LEED projects.

LEED is an internationally recognized certification program developed by the U.S. Green Building Council to provide guidance and independent third-party verification of a project's green design, building and operation. Among those pursuing LEED certification is Sterling Cottages at West End, developed as the ultimate off campus UNCG housing, and Phase II of Sterling's popular apartments near UCF.

Phase I of Sterling Central UCF apartments in Orlando became Florida's first luxury student housing project to seek LEED Silver certification. Most of its 763 beds were preleased before Central opened last summer. This second phase provides another 774 beds and more amenities, including a structured parking garage, two swimming pools and a high tech entertainment center with 3-D theater room and 129" television wall.

Sterling Cottages, located near the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, is a unique group of modern two-story townhomes and cottage flats offering the finest in eco-friendly living. Closest to UNCG, Sterling Cottages is only minutes from other colleges and universities such as Guilford College, Strayer University, Greensboro College, Elon University School of Law and Bennett College for Women.

The third property preleasing for Fall 2011 is Sterling's University of Alabama apartments. Located near the UA campus in Tuscaloosa, Sterling Crimson is an upscale student apartment community offering the hottest amenities including a resort style swimming pool and spa, free tanning dome, 24-hour fitness center, multiple basketball and sand volleyball courts, and much more.

As with other Sterling communities, each community offers individual leases so students don't need to rent the entire apartment by themselves. Roommate matching programs are available.
