TeamDynamixHE 7 Raises Bar for Higher Education Project and Portfolio Management

New Version of Company's Web-Based Software Features New Reporting, Planning and Tracking Capabilities Designed to Increase PPM Adoption and Maturity Within Higher Education

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwire - January 18, 2011) - TeamDynamixHE today released version 7 of its web-based project and portfolio management (PPM) software for higher education IT professionals. TeamDynamixHE was developed to meet the IT governance needs of colleges and universities, and version 7 further simplifies PPM with new planning and reporting tools, added time-saving capabilities and user-interface enhancements. The updates make PPM more accessible and personal for all users, regardless of their level of understanding of PPM principles and practices.

"On most campuses there is often a wide range of PPM knowledge and maturity, which makes it difficult for campuses to effectively implement a standard PPM system," said Andrew Graf, principle analyst for TeamDynamixHE. "Adding to the complexity is the majority of PPM software systems simply don't understand the change management process within the higher education environment. Unlike the ROI-driven enterprise world, colleges and universities are driven by supporting the institution's mission, customer satisfaction, accreditation and building consensus among stakeholders. TeamDynamixHE 7 takes all of these factors into account, adding the contributions of an advisory council consisting of higher education IT leaders, to create a comprehensive centralized system that embraces all levels of users while raising the bar for PPM."

"I'm very excited about the new features contained in release 7.0 as several of our highest priority enhancement requests are included," said Clay Fulton, technical coordinator for Carnegie Mellon University. "TeamDynamixHE continues to listen to its customers when it comes to improving its product. The new My Work module is a great tool to improve project governance."

Among the new features in TeamDynamixHE 7 are the following:

  • Capacity Planner: Users can view and shift capacity at the resource or role level, then view what has shifted in the Change Report. Capacity can be filtered by account, type, status and priority, and users can generate reports with new pre-set and customizable filtering.
  • Iteration/Plan Manager: Version 7 introduces time-saving right-click context menus, including a shortcut to update actuals. Users can edit three custom fields for budget or other project information, drag-and-drop resources from the sidebar directly onto a task, and plans can be exported to Excel, Word and HTML or printed.
  • Portfolios: Create a portfolio from the Analysis application and assign goals and budgets. From the new portfolio explorer, users can easily add projects to a portfolio and assess the portfolio's performance and progress. In addition, they can generate dynamic portfolio reports, including status, budget, hours, scoring and return on investment.
  • My Work: Version 7's new My Work application is designed with the end-user in mind and focuses on increasing adoption and usability. Team members can quickly view their assignments, create a to-do list for the day, update and submit time cards, communicate with other team members and project managers, view project activity in a sidebar news feed, see all events scheduled for the day and access a list of past accomplishments to easily answer the question, "What did you work on last week?"
  • Updated Interface and Time Saving Enhancements: TeamDynamixHE 7 delivers a cleaner look and feel across the entire application. Sidebars are simplified with easier to read and navigate parent and children tasks, while many text input fields that required a manual lookup now feature auto-complete functionality.

"The success of TeamDynamixHE is a direct result of our understanding of the higher education culture, and ability to implement its uniqueness and IT demands into a user-friendly PPM software application," added Graf. "Our intentions with TeamDynamixHE have always been focused on improving PPM for colleges and universities, and that focus will never be more evident than the release of version 7 and beyond. We appreciate the valuable contributions of our customers and advisory board that help distinguish TeamDynamixHE from traditional PPM applications."

TeamDynamixHE automatically updated all hosted customers to version 7 over the weekend. Colleges and universities interested in learning more about the software can visit www.teamdynamixhe.com.
