Correctional Service of Canada: Escape From Stan Daniels Healing Centre

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Jan. 18, 2011) - At approximately 2000 hours on Monday, January 17, 2011, inmate Gordon DUMAIS escaped from Stan Daniels Healing Centre in Edmonton, AB. Edmonton Police Services were notified.

DUMAIS is a 30-year old federal inmate serving a 2 year, 2 month, 2 day sentence for Operate Motor Vehicle while Disqualified (x4) and Fail to Comply. His sentence commenced on June 29, 2010.

DUMAIS has a medium complexion, short black hair, and brown eyes. He stands 175 cm (5'9") tall and weighs 84 kg (186 lbs). He has tattoos covering both upper arms, his upper back, chest, and left thumb. He has a scar on his forehead above his right eye.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of DUMAIS is asked to contact police.

The Stan Daniels Healing Center is operated and staffed by Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) and is located in Edmonton, AB. NCSA provides a range of spiritual and correctional programs to both offenders on conditional release and minimum security inmates through sections 81 and 84 of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act through an agreement with the Minister of Public Safety. 

At the time of the incident, there were 20 inmates at the Stan Daniels Healing Center.

The Correctional Service of Canada and NCSA will be conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working with the Edmonton Police Service to locate the offender.
