Solar Thermal Manufacturer FAFCO Goes Mobile With AltiGen's Smart Phone Integration

Company Extends Unified Communications to iPhone, Google Droid and Blackberry Users

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - January 19, 2011) - AltiGen Communications, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: ATGN) (OTCQX: ATGN), the leading provider of software-based Unified Communications solutions, today announced that solar thermal manufacturer FAFCO has deployed AltiGen's unified communications application, MaxMobile, to enable its sales, service and executive teams to work anywhere, anytime exactly as if they were in the office.

FAFCO is the oldest and largest solar thermal manufacturer in the United States. In 1969 when company founder Freeman Ford invented the use of polymers in thermal swimming pool heating, there were no successful solar businesses in the U.S. In just a few years the company became the largest provider of solar pool heating in the U.S. Over time, the company has grown to provide domestic solar hot water systems and has earned nearly 30 U.S. Patents. FAFCO has also worked with the Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory to jointly develop and release the world's first lightweight, affordable solar heating system for household water in 2007.

"As a technology company, FAFCO has always fostered an internal culture of innovation," said FAFCO Network Specialist Jeff Monian. "When we decided to upgrade our communications capabilities, we searched for a software based solution that would leverage our existing investment in BlackBerry, Google Droid and iPhone smart phones. The goal was to provide complete business phone functionality over a variety of mobile phones. AltiGen's MaxMobile application was a perfect fit because it was easy to deploy and provides great functionality for our employees. Using a smart phone, we are able to make, receive, conference and even view the presence of other employees as if everyone were in the office. This allows us greater flexibility and improves the way we are able to communicate with our customers."

"AltiGen's mobility software extends PBX functionality and call control to the full or part time mobile user," said AltiGen Vice President of Sales Mike Plumer. "It may be implemented as an integrated part of AltiGen's Unified Communication's solution or adjunct to an existing PBX. We are also providing native integration to Microsoft's Lync solution for companies planning to move away from legacy, hardware based solutions."

"Our next project is to incorporate AltiGen's contact center solution," said FAFCO's Monian. "We are expanding to allow plumbing companies to deploy our lightweight solar water heaters. When they contact us, we want to be able to manage and track that activity using AltiGen advanced call routing capability."

"FAFCO is exactly the type of company we like doing business with," said AltiGen's Mike Plumer. "They are growth focused and always looking for ways to make improvements. By integrating their smart phones, we can help them remove any communication barriers. When they have completed the contact center deployment, we will be providing additional tools to measure, monitor and manage interaction with their partners and customers."
