NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 19, 2011) -  International law firm King & Spalding today announced the addition of veteran corporate partner Steven D. Guynn to its New York office, the latest move in the firm's expansion of its transactional practices. Guynn is the twelfth transactional partner worldwide, and the fifth in New York, to join King & Spalding in the past eight months.

"Steven's experience representing sovereign wealth funds, corporations and investment banks engaged in international cross-border and capital markets transactions, including in the energy, pharma/life sciences and media/communications industries, is a great match for our highly regarded corporate practice," said Robert D. Hays, Jr., chairman of King & Spalding. "His addition also builds on the significant transactional strengths of our Middle East and Islamic finance, private equity and capital markets practices, as well. We are delighted to welcome Steven to King & Spalding."

Guynn has more than 25 years' experience in capital markets transactions and mergers and acquisitions. He joins King & Spalding from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

Guynn specializes in strategic transactions and international matters for corporations, underwriters and capital providers. He has extensive experience with U.S. and cross-border transactions for corporations, underwriters, private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds. He has advised clients in industries including financial institutions, energy, pharma/life sciences, telecommunications, transportation, retail and real estate. Guynn has led more than $150 billion of transactions in the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America for U.S. and non-U.S. clients. He received a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia Law School, where he served as a notes editor of the Virginia Law Review, and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Brigham Young University, where he was valedictorian of his college.

"Our focus is on building in our areas of strength by adding new capabilities and the best lawyers in their respective areas of expertise," said Raymond E. Baltz, Jr., leader of King & Spalding's corporate practice. "We value the help Steven brings to building our board advisory, corporate and capital markets practices, our global energy, pharma/life sciences transactional practices and our practices in the Middle East, Latin America and Asia."
