Applied DNA Sciences Working With Richard "Bo" Dietl to Promote Forensic Tools for Law Enforcement and Private Security Firms

STONY BROOK, NY--(Marketwire - January 24, 2011) - Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (OTCBB: APDN), a provider of DNA-based anti-counterfeiting technology and product authentication solutions, announced today that has signed an agreement with B&E Advising LLC to assist in the promotion of APDN products and services to law enforcement and private security firms.

"Applied DNA Sciences is ushering in a new generation of forensic crime fighting tools that can be used in a wide variety of circumstances," Bo Dietl said. "The use of botanical DNA to mark and authenticate products, papers and even people is unprecedented and is a tremendous stride forward in crime enforcement and prosecution."

Forensic tools to assist law enforcement and private security officers are of paramount interest to Mr. Dietl, who was a New York City Police Officer and Detective from June 1969 until he retired in 1985. He was one of the most highly decorated detectives in the history of the police department, with several thousand arrests to his credit. President George Bush appointed Bo as Co-Chairman of the National Crime Commission. Governor George E. Pataki appointed Bo Chairman of the New York State Security Guard Advisory Council.

Using DNA as a proactive marker opens the doors to incredible opportunity when capturing and prosecuting perpetrators. APDN's forensic markers are actively used in the security industry and by police throughout the UK, Europe and now the United States. In the United Kingdom, nearly 30 % of cash in transport is protected by APDN's SigNature DNA and stolen cash is authenticated with pinpoint accuracy based on forensic authentication. Over 20 convictions have been attributed to the veracity of APDN's forensic technology by UK Metropolitan Police, Flying Squads and the Crown Prosecutor.

Crime prevention and the value of deterrence are important national security concerns. Sweden, for example, has been experiencing increased and more violent CViT crimes in recent years and there has been a public outcry for a definitive solution. Bo Dietl met with the Swedish Police and Forensic Team recently to discuss the value of a DNA forensic system to better address serious and violent crimes.

"We are honored to include Bo Dietl among our advisors and business associates," said Dr. James Hayward, APDN's CEO and Chairman. "He is recognized globally for insight in security and advises countries, diplomats and Fortune 100 companies."
