GOVERNING Names Jonathan Walters as Executive Editor

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - January 25, 2011) - Jonathan Walters, a journalist with more than 30 years experience, has been named executive editor of GOVERNING, a monthly magazine and website covering public policy and management in states, cities and counties.

Walters has been covering state and local government for publications ranging from the Washington Post to USA Today. He started working for Governing in 1988 as a regular correspondent, covering issues from management trends in state and local government, to transportation, to human services. He is the author of three books: Measuring Up; Measuring Up.2.0; and Good Press, Bad Press, Depressed, and he writes a monthly e-newsletter for Governing on human services. As executive editor he will continue reporting, while also working to coordinate events and editorial.

He graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he majored in English with a concentration in journalism. He lives in Ghent, NY, where he serves as chairman of the planning board, and as an active member of his volunteer fire company.
