Government of Canada Supports Zamoof! Magazine

KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 26, 2011) - Government of Canada funding will allow Dream Wave Publishing, the publisher of Zamoof! magazine for children, to expand its online presence by adding Zamoof! World, an activity centre for young people. The announcement was made by Ron Cannan, Member of Parliament (Kelowna–Lake Country), on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. 

"It is important for our Government to encourage the growth of our Canadian publishers and magazines, especially those that help shape the minds of our young people," said Minister Moore. "Financial support provided by the Canada Periodical Fund fosters new developments in the industry and contributes to diversity of content."

"Zamoof! is designed to encourage reading and creativity and to educate kids about the world around them," said Mr. Cannan. "I am pleased that our Government is supporting this fine Okanagan publication."

The Government of Canada has provided funding of $25,000 through the Business Innovation component of the Canada Periodical Fund. The Fund invests in periodicals like this one to help increase the overall health of the Canadian magazine and non-daily newspaper industries. The Business Innovation component encourages innovation to adapt to changing market conditions and contributes to the diversity of content sought by Canadian readers.
