The Empire's Austin "No Doubt" Trout is Crowned the New WBA Super Welterweight World Champion After Defeating Rigoberto Alvarez

NEW YORK, Feb. 7, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Empire Sports and Entertainment Holding Co. (OTCBB:EXCX), "The Empire," a promoter of entertainment and sports events, today announced that its fighter, undefeated Austin "No Doubt" Trout (22-0, 13 KOs), defeated Rigoberto "Espanol" Alvarez (26-2, 19 KOs) to become the WBA Super Welterweight World Champion at the Arena Coliseo in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Saturday, February 5th.

Austin Trout became a world champion on Saturday with a unanimous decision victory over Mexican WBA 154-pound interim champion Rigoberto Alvarez. All three cards were scored 119-108 in favor of Trout. The 25-year-old Trout controlled the fight, improving to 22-0 as a professional and joining Bob Foster, Danny Romero and Johnny Tapia as New Mexico born world champions.

"It hasn't all set in," Trout said. "I'm still high off it. I know that when the final bell rang, I fell to the floor. It's been a long road. I had it from start to finish and almost had him down in the last round, but he's a strong guy."

"I couldn't be more proud of Austin. From the opening round to the closing bell, there was 'No Doubt' that Austin was the superior boxer as he dominated the action throughout. To fight a Mexican Champion in his hometown in Mexico and have the crowd chant in unison 'Austin, Austin' late in the fight, speaks volumes of how impressive his performance was," commented The Empire Sports and Entertainment's President, Greg Cohen.

"Now we're looking forward to Austin defending his title against the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., or Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. Austin has told me he wants 'big fights for big money' and I couldn't agree with him more," continued Cohen.
