Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Presentation of the Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 14, 2011) - Works of non-fiction can teach us much about our world that we would otherwise never know. In Canada, we are fortunate to have many talented non-fiction authors who share their experiences and insights, as well as their passion for writing, with readers at home and abroad.

Today, the 10^th Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction was awarded to Charles Foran for his book Mordecai: The Life & Times. Stevie Cameron, Ross King, George Sipos, and Merrily Weisbord were also honoured as finalists.

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to this year's winner and finalists. Thank you for taking us beyond the places, people, and events of our own experience.
