Tarsis Stakes New Porphyry/Skarn Prospect, Yukon

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 16, 2011) - Tarsis Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:TCC) ("Tarsis") is pleased to announce that it has acquired by staking, a 100% interest in 36 claims (approximately 750 hectares), named the Burns property. The property is located in western Yukon, approximately 50 kilometers north of Haines Junction.

Geologically, the claims are interpreted to lie within the regionally extensive Ruby Range Plutonic Suite which mostly comprises Late Cretaceous to early Tertiary granodiorite. A brief examination of the Burns property in fall 2010 by Tarsis identified a variety of rock types including felsic to mafic intrusive plus carbonate and calcareous siliciclastic rocks mostly represented by locally derived talus. Hydrothermal alteration is characterized in the calcareous units by a variety of calc-silicate mineral assemblages including epidote-clinozoisite, diopside and garnet. Silicification and subsequent bleaching appear to be more closely associated with a porphyritic variety of the felsic intrusive.

Cursory prospecting was focused along a steep west-facing slope within the western part of the property. Thirty-seven select, locally derived talus samples were collected along a 1 km portion of the slope and returned assays ranging from below detection to 0.28 g/t gold, 1 ppm to 0.34% copper and below detection to 65.5 g/t silver. Samples with strongly elevated copper and silver values exhibit weakly limonitic textures with traces of malachite as surface coatings. A number of these samples also yielded anomalous values for bismuth (<2 to 109 ppm) and molybdenum (<1 to 29 ppm).

Although the target area is poorly understood at this time the Company interprets the property geology as being prospective for both porphyry and skarn style mineralization.

President and CEO Marc Blythe states, "The Burns prospect is further evidence of the success of our generative exploration in Yukon. This target appears to have no prior exploration history, which highlights the prospectivity of the Territory. We are looking forward to carrying out systematic early stage exploration at Burns in the spring."

Access to the property is by helicopter with the nearest road located at the foot of Aishihik Lake, approximately 20 kilometers to the east.
