PORT PERRY, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 21, 2011) - More than 100 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the Vanden Endens family of Port Perry will come together, thanks to Shaw's Amazing Family Reunion Contest.

The contest launched online at www.togetherisamazing.com on November 29, inviting Canadians to create a virtual scrapbook page sharing their story of why they wanted to reunite their family. More than 5,000 Canadians created family scrapbooks and shared their incredible stories. Ten deserving families were chosen by a panel of judges and will have the opportunity to create their dream family reunion valued up to $25,000.

Adrian and Trudy Vanden Enden immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1953, along with their four children. Like many new Canadians, Adrian spoke no English and worked three jobs just to support his family. Over time, more than eight more children were added to the family – for a total of nine boys and three girls. The family has held smaller reunions, but family member JoAnne Prout entered Shaw's Amazing Family Reunion Contest with a larger goal in mind.

"Finding a time, place and price that could accommodate the varied requirements of the families has put an end to all 101 Vanden Endens getting together at one time," said JoAnne. "It would be lovely if just once, we could all get together so that everyone can reconnect, and in some cases, meet for the first time. Getting everyone together would be my ardent wish."

As one of the 10 contest winners, the Vanden Endens reunion will bring together family members from all across Canada, for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
