VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 21, 2011) - Gary Hostad of Victoria recently had the chance to surprise his wife with a first-time family reunion for both of their families.
Shaw's Amazing Family Reunion launched online at www.togetherisamazing.com on November 29, inviting Canadians to create a virtual scrapbook page sharing their story of why they wanted to reunite their family. More than 5,000 Canadians created family scrapbooks and shared their incredible stories. Ten deserving families were chosen by a panel of judges and will have the opportunity to create their dream family reunion valued up to $25,000.
"I would really like to make my wife's dream come true by bringing our families together," said Gary Hostad, one of Shaw's Amazing Family Reunion winners. "We got married alone and have just spent our third Christmas alone. In fact, my family and my wife's family have never even met. I can't think of a better way to bring our families together for the first time."
In the last couple of years, the Hostad family has faced a number of challenges. Gary's wife suffered the loss of her father and best friend, he lost his job and they are struggling financially. Amid the tragedy, they had beautiful baby daughter, who is now 22 months old. Gary entered this contest without his wife's knowledge, as he knows how much a reunion would mean to her and their entire family. Shaw's Amazing Family Reunion will help turn this dream into a reality.
