Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, today announces its innovative product lineup for Digital Signage Expo 2011. Sharp will display its entire line of PN Series monitors and will feature the PN-E models, ideal for use in most any demanding environment that requires around-the-clock operation seven days a week, the PN-V601 60-inch class model with an ultra thin (1/8-inch) bezel for video wall applications, and the PN-L601B 60-inch class integrated touch display. In addition, Sharp is previewing prototypes of three 60-inch screen class size high brightness models and one 32-inch screen class size integrated touch display monitor.

The PN Series monitors are available in 32-, 42-, 47-, 52- and 60-inch screen class sizes. Offering a narrow bezel design for flexible mounting and placement options, combined with superior image quality and reliable 24/7 use, these ENERGY STAR® qualified models are ideal for the most sophisticated commercial signage and display applications. Compatible for use in both landscape and portrait mode applications, the high quality PN models incorporate reliable components and expansion options for a one-stop custom signage solution for a variety of applications.
PN-V601: Ultra-Thin Bezel, Ideal for Video Wall Applications
Sharp recently introduced its first professional LCD monitor with LED backlighting designed specifically for video wall applications. With a slim profile, the 60-inch class (60" diagonal) PN-V601 offers an ultra-slim bezel (1/8-inch) and can be used in a variety of signage and commercial display applications, in both landscape and portrait mode. The monitor's full-array LED backlight system delivers uniform colors and brightness across the entire screen.
With the 60-inch screen size class, a large video wall can be created with fewer monitors. For instance, the PN-V601 enables a 13' x 7' video wall with the use of just nine monitors, while it would require sixteen 46-inch monitors to produce the same 100-square-foot video wall. This leads to a reduction in installation costs as well as power savings. Additionally, with an ultra-slim bezel that measures just over 1/8th of an inch (4.1mm) at the top and 1/11th of an inch (2.4mm) at the bottom of the panel, the majority of the surface area of the video wall would be made up of the actual screen since the seam area between monitors is less obtrusive.
PN-L601B: High Performance Interactive LCD Presentation Solution
The recently introduced PN-L601B 60-inch class model is a high performance interactive LCD presentation solution ideal for use in malls as a store locator and way finding application. It features a white board application which allows users to display and mark digital images or scanned documents for presentation purposes via its bright and attractive screen. The model's accurate touch-screen response and easy-to-use original pen software gives any office, business or school the ideal tool for visually sharing interactive communication.
The LCD panel is equipped with Sharp's UV2A photo alignment and Full Array LED backlight technologies to create an evenly-lit bright and energy-efficient screen consuming 38% less power than our similar featured CCFL backlight models. The panel is easy to read in most environments, regardless of ambient lighting levels. The PN-L601B's accurate touch-screen response is made possible by Sharp's infrared detection system, which uses multiple infrared sensors to pinpoint the location of the user's onscreen finger or touch pen movements to virtually eliminate the perception of misalignment.
Sharp developed intuitive pen software specifically for the PN-L601B with a user-friendly interface that enables the selection of pen colors and eraser functions with a click of the touch pen button. Once images are displayed on the screen, users can draw directly on them with a touch pen or their finger to quickly make notes and reference marks. These images, with notations, can then be saved as a file on a PC or printed via a connected Sharp multifunction product (MFP). Connecting the PN-L601B to a Sharp MFP with color scanning function also enables documents and images to be easily scanned and displayed on the PN-L601B via the pen software.
Four Additional Prototypes Models Being Previewed
Sharp is previewing four prototype professional LCD monitors at Digital Signage Expo, including three 60-inch class high brightness models and one 32-inch class touch panel model. The 60-inch class high brightness prototype LCD panel features Sharp's exclusive UV2A panel and full-array LED backlighting. This model also enables 24x7 operation, lower power consumption than our similarly featured CCFL backlight models and is ideal for window-facing applications. Another 60-inch class prototype model adds an ultra-thin bezel of 6.5mm and enlarge (zoom) display mode for up to 25 monitors. Sharp will demonstrate this high brightness model along with standard brightness models in a 1x3 video wall for easy side-by-side comparison. This prototype is compatible with SDSS™ Sharp Digital Signage Software.
Also shown will be a 60-inch class prototype designed for outdoor use with a sealed (IP55 rating) temperature-controlled (cool and warm) enclosure and anti-reflection and anti-violet filters. Lastly, the 32-inch class integrated touch display prototype features a TFT display and built in touch screen utilizing optical imaging technology. It incorporates an LED Edge Lit backlight which helps achieve lower power consumption versus our similarly featured CCFL backlight models and infrared sensing technology for accurately tracking finger and touch pen movement on its screen. This model is also capable of 24x7 operation.
