Inphi's Chris Haywood Receives JEDEC Leadership Award


SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - February 22, 2011) -  Inphi Corporation (NYSE: IPHI), a leading provider of high-speed analog semiconductor solutions for the communications and computing markets, today announced that Chris Haywood, Vice President and Chief Architect of the Computing and Storage Business Line at Inphi has received a JEDEC Chairman's Award from the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, the global leader in standards development for the microelectronics industry.

The JEDEC JC-45 Committee for DRAM Modules recognized the accomplishments of Haywood at a recent committee meeting in San Francisco, California. Presented by Mian Quddus, Chairman of the JEDEC JC-45 Committee, Haywood received the Chairman's Award, which honors member company volunteers who have made significant contributions to their committee. Haywood received his award in recognition of his outstanding work on the standardization of LRDIMMs.

LRDIMM Innovation -- Inphi's Isolation Memory Buffer
Inphi's Isolation Memory Buffer (iMB™) technology is helping to drive the creation of a new class of memory modules -- load reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs) -- capable of delivering upward of four times the memory capacity in a server platform and increases to server bandwidth in datacenters that are powering cloud computing. 

Built to the proposed Memory Buffer specification as defined by JEDEC, the Inphi iMB02-GS02 is compatible with the current generation of DDR3-based server systems and helps to facilitate a transition from RDIMM to higher capacity LRDIMM. The iMB02-GS02 is important to memory subsystem operation at 1600 MT/s while maintaining favorable power consumption. Unlike traditional registered DIMMs that limit the amount of server memory that can be installed due to their loading profile, LRDIMMs replace the register with an isolation memory buffer that reduces the load. The new scheme enables more ranks of dynamic RAM (DRAM) to be populated on the memory module and more modules to be used in a system at higher operating frequencies.
