Spend Matters and MetalMiner Present International Manufacturing/Trade Simulcast Sponsored by Nucor and Zycus

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - February 22, 2011) - Aiming to defy the hundreds of trade conferences laden with Power Point presentations that currently dominate the industry, sector-leading blogs Spend Matters and MetalMiner present International Trade Breaking Point, a live simulcast to be held on March 1 from 8:35-12pm CST.

Much has been written and publicly debated about the US trade deficit and the subsequent loss of manufacturing jobs, currency policies, anti-dumping cases, violations of WTO trading rules and, most recently, the impact of Quantitative Easing on the dollar. Policies impacting currency exchange rates serve as an extremely timely topic that will have wide-sweeping effects on the entire manufacturing sector, from the largest corporations to the smallest "mom and pop" shops. It's also a subject that both high-ranking executives and procurement/sourcing managers must know more about, albeit from different policy and functional levels.

Formatted as an academic-style debate, the conference will be broken into three sections, each featuring industry experts from organizations such as the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Wiley & Rein, Nucor, PWC, and Dun & Bradstreet. The first panel will provide a public policy overview and debate, presenting the current global trade landscape from several viewpoints. The second panel, a discussion entitled "Minimizing Risk in Tomorrow's Global Trade Arena: Scenarios and Strategies" examines how companies can thrive in several potential future scenarios. The final panel, "Adjusting Your Total Landed Cost Models for a Volatile Global Sourcing Environment," offers strategies for companies seeking to better model volatile supply chains. All attendees will receive a total landed cost model.

Participants can also receive three Continuing Education credits from the Institute for Supply Management for attending this simulcast.
