TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 24, 2011) - Today, the Ontario Power Authority ("OPA") announced its awards for successful connections and contracts under the Feed-In-Tariff ("FIT") program for new renewable generation capacity in Ontario. SkyPower, Canada's leading solar energy company is pleased to announce its awards for FotoLight LP and LunarLight LP solar power projects, wholly owned subsidiaries of SkyPower Limited located in Prince Edward County.

"These solar projects will provide local economic benefits through the creation of new green energy jobs and by providing an opportunity for the community to participate in helping to generate a brighter future. We are excited to begin early development on these projects and begin passing along the many economic and environmental benefits that clean energy will bring to the municipality," stated Kerry Adler, President and Chief Executive Officer, SkyPower Limited.

SkyPower will build, finance, own and operate the solar parks. These projects, approximately 10 MW each in size and occupying between 75-100 acres of land and will each produce enough energy over its 20 year lifespan to power almost 17,000 average homes for one year.

These solar parks are expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect regional jobs.

In addition to having a proven track record for successfully bringing utility-scale solar projects to commercial operation, SkyPower is also known for providing local workers with new green energy skills and generating significant local investment.

To ensure the community is well informed on all project details, SkyPower will be hosting its first round of public consultation meetings. This is to be announced in March of 2011.
