SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - March 2, 2011) - The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) announced today that Cindy Tuck will join the association as its state legislative director effective March 28.
Tuck, who has served as undersecretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA) since July 2007, has more than two decades of experience developing and implementing legislation and regulations involving water and other environmental issues. She previously served as Cal/EPA's assistant secretary for policy, advising the agency secretary on water quality, air quality, pesticides and climate issues. She also served as a liaison to the State Water Resources Control Board and the Department of Pesticide Regulation.
ACWA Executive Director Timothy Quinn said Tuck brings extensive experience, credentials and skills that will help ACWA and its members in the legislative and policy arenas. Noting that the position plays a key role in the water community, Quinn said Tuck is well suited to engage at the Capitol and advocate for ACWA members' interests.

Tuck was selected through an extensive process that included a wide range of candidates.
She is a licensed civil engineer and an attorney. She holds a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and a master of science degree in environmental engineering from the University of Illinois. She also holds a juris doctorate degree from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, and is a member of the State Bar.
