EVANSVILLE, IN--(Marketwire - March 3, 2011) - Former Indiana Congressman Brad Ellsworth will join Vectren Corporation (NYSE: VVC) as the president of its Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana - North (Vectren North) gas utility effective May 1, 2011. The position, announced in a 2010 management reorganization, is designed to enhance the company's presence with local government officials, community leaders and customers in the 49 Indiana counties served by the utility.

"Brad is a great addition to our team and will do an outstanding job representing us with all of our stakeholders throughout Central and Southeastern Indiana. He is well respected by leaders in both political parties and has a working knowledge of the needs of Indiana communities," said Vectren President and CEO Carl L. Chapman. "With more than one million customers in two states it has become increasingly important to partner with local communities. Brad will help provide tools to make local communities more successful and ensure their needs are met."

Ellsworth will work with the company's government affairs and community sustainability staff to identify and implement community relations programs to permanently improve the quality of life in Indiana communities. Ellsworth will operate out of the company's central Indiana office and engage with local leaders on key company and industry initiatives.

Prior to joining Vectren, Ellsworth spent nearly three decades in public service. His law enforcement career spans 24 years, where he ultimately was elected sheriff of Vanderburgh County. As a two-term congressman, he represented the people of Indiana's 8th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.

"His legacy of service to the public coupled with the leadership skills he has gained throughout his career make him an ideal fit to partner with local leaders," Chapman said.
