SAN RAMON, CA and LONDON--(Marketwire - March 4, 2011) - eQuest today announced its employment findings for February, 2011 as published in its Employment Index located online at:

The index shows the United States continued steady growth in demand for hiring as the index moved above 99 for its first time.

Year over year the number of positions has steadily grown across the board. Production based industries such as paper, furniture and chemicals are down and also seem to have brought similar industries such as distribution along -- creating the majority of resistance toward quick growth. While the industries at the top of the list for demand such as social services and machinery are adding more positions -- those industries as a whole, do not have overall volume to offset the bottom of the list.

The UK is lagging behind the US market but has shown growth for two consecutive months with the index at 96.18. Eden, East Devon and Ryedale lead the list of regions that have the highest employee demand -- while Kingston, Nottingham and Liverpool show the lowest regional demand.

The eQuest Employment Index will also report on the spending patterns of the Fortune 500 including job posting volumes based on activity over the prior month. The index derives its findings through algorithms based on the supply and demand of open positions posted to responding candidates. A target index of 100 reflects balance in the number of applicants vying for each open position posted. The data to create the index includes thousands of monthly job posting transactions. Reporting includes analysis by industry using the governments Standard Occupational Codes (SOC) in major metros and states and over 950 job classifications.
