WADMALAW ISLAND, SC--(Marketwire - March 4, 2011) - Firefly Sweet Tea Spirits co-founder Scott Newitt proudly announces the opening of Firefly Records in McClellanville, SC and the Flavor the Music sponsorship program. Driven by Scott's passion for music and supporting indie artists, Firefly Records offers indoor and outdoor music workshop spaces, a state-of-the-art recording studio and "low country" accommodations.
Scott explains, "I worked my way through college playing in a 'bar band' at LSU. I am inspired by music and I love the creative process. The Firefly Records studio is a refuge for those who want a more natural environment to escape 'city noise' and focus solely on creating, writing and producing music. Yet it has all of the modern conveniences, technology and equipment to produce superior quality recordings."
Firefly Records is offering the studio to any artist looking for a place to create and to the Firefly "family" of indie bands supported through the Flavor the Music sponsorship program. Firefly currently sponsors four south-eastern based bands and will be signing three more in March, 2011. These bands reflect Firefly's personality -- genuine, easy, fun and naturally sweet.
To showcase two of the bands, Firefly is hosting a Sweet Tea Bash in Austin, Texas during the South by Southwest music festival (March 17-20). The (non-sanctioned) event will feature performances by Charleston's Crowfield and The Heyday. Apache Relay and Kinda Major (not currently sponsored by Firefly) will perform with the others on Sunday, March 20, 2011, noon-6:00 p.m., at Speakeasy Lounge, 412D Congress Ave. Firefly will be announcing a major SxSW sanctioned event sponsorship in the coming days so stay tuned for more details.
Signed or to-be-signed Flavor the Music bands are: Sol Driven Train, Last Waltz Ensemble, John Wesley Satterfield, Lloyd Dobler Effect, Leslie and female artist Jessica Rae.
