CMHC: Thunder Bay Starts Slow in February

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 8, 2011) - Starts activity slowed in February with only one single-detached unit breaking ground according to preliminary data released today by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Year-to-date single-detached starts now sit at seven units, even with last year's count for the same period.

"Singles starts came in at slightly below the ten year average for the month," observed Warren Philp, Northern Ontario Market Analyst with CMHC. "While year-to-date singles are unchanged from last year, two semi-detached units had started in February 2010 that leave total starts two units behind the same two months last year," concluded Philp.
