NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 9, 2011) - February showed a strong surge for paid search retail campaigns, continuing to outpace growth for retail overall, according to PM Digital's February 2011 Rewind Index, which measures monthly paid search performance for online retail clients. Strong improvement in the average conversion rate, up 46% over last year, was a big factor contributing to sales growth. The traditionally promotion-laden Presidents' Day emerged as the top day in February for several key paid search metrics, namely spend, clicks and revenue which showed a 50% increase over 2010.

A few highlights from the Rewind Index include:

  • Revenue for PM Digital clients was up 36%
  • 29% increase in paid search spend
  • Clicks were up slightly year-over-year

"Online retail sales continue to surge to new highs," said Suzy Sandberg, President of PM Digital. "Retail websites are easier to navigate, consumers show increasing confidence in buying online, and retailers are getting very savvy about offering promotions like free shipping. This is a healthy environment for retailers."
