Synopsys University Program Receives the 1st ISQED Education Leadership Award

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - March 17, 2011) - The International Society for Quality Electronic Design today announced the winner of the 1st ISQED Education Leadership Award.

Synopsys University Program is the recipient of the 2011 Education Leadership Award for leadership in promoting high-quality engineering education by instituting comprehensive programs toward the training of students and educators and providing significant educational content and curriculum programs.

Rich Goldman, vice president, corporate marketing and strategic alliances of Synopsys, received the award on behalf of the Synopsys University Program during the ISQED2011 luncheon on Tuesday, March 15th. Mr. Goldman was also a keynote speaker in the first "International Electronic Design Education Conference (IEDEC)" which was held in conjunction with ISQED2011 on Wednesday, March 16th.

"Microelectronics is a particularly challenging domain for universities," said Mr. Goldman. "Unlike pure sciences, microelectronics advances at the pace of Moore's Law. What university can keep up with that pace? By facilitating collaboration among industry, government and universities, we have found an effective way to provide a high quality microelectronics curriculum that keeps up with Moore's Law to universities around the globe. This new methodology plays a key role in fueling the growth of semiconductor design by providing graduates who are ready to be productive from day one on the job."

The ISQED Education Leadership Award has been established to honor organizations that exemplify leadership excellence in engineering education and to recognize specific accomplishments and achievements in the field of higher education.

"The ISQED Education Leadership Award honors organizations that have achieved recognition for leadership in promoting quality education," said Dr. Ali A. Iranmanesh, founder and chairman of ISQED, and founder of Silicon Valley Technical Institute. "To qualify for the award, the select organization must have instituted quality programs for training of students and educators, provided significant quality education content and curriculums, and inspired others to careers in electronic design and education."
