App From IDG Enterprise Allows Users to Search, Store and Share IT White Papers From Across the Web

App Latest Addition to IDG Enterprise Mobile Initiatives, Including Mobile Accessible Websites and iPad Specific Engagement

FRAMINGHAM, MA--(Marketwire - April 4, 2011) - IDG Enterprise -- the media company comprising CFOworld, CIO, CIO Executive Council, Computerworld, CSO, DEMO, InfoWorld, ITworld and Network World -- announces the launch of Tech Briefcase, an iPhone application that allows users to search, store and share IT White Papers from across the web, to complement the existing mobile portfolio.

The Tech Briefcase app includes a robust search function that allows users to find White Papers on specific IT topics from their iPhone. Users can read the abstract, view the White Paper or file the White Paper into their "briefcase," which can be accessed via a portal at TechnologyBriefcase.com. Additionally, embedded social sharing features allow users to easily share White Papers with their colleagues and social networks via LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and email.

"IDG Enterprise is investing in innovative tools to help our IT professional audience be more productive and efficient in their roles," said Michael Friedenberg, president and CEO of IDG Enterprise. "In the 2010 IDG Enterprise Role & Influence of the Technology Buyer survey, 71% of the IT executive participants stated that White Papers are an important resource throughout the purchase process, only surpassed by the influence of peers. The Tech Briefcase app combines the importance our audience places on the use of White Papers as well as supports IT professionals' influential adoption of mobile productivity tools."

Serving this mobile audience as it continues to grow -- site traffic from visitors using iPads to access IDG Enterprise's sites has grown by 93% in the past 6 months -- IDG Enterprise has invested in optimizing the content sites to be easy to access and navigate on mobile devices. In June 2010, Steve Smith, digital media editor of MIN and Min's B2B, tested the performance of several BtoB sites on the iPad, including Computerworld.com, and stated, "IDG's IT resource site performed remarkably well in our browser."

"IDG Enterprise continues to enhance the user experience on mobile devices," said Gregg Pinsky, senior vice president and GM of online operations, IDG Enterprise. "In the spring of 2011, we are improving visual design and navigation, enhancing Twitter and email sharing of articles and blogs, as well as back-end updates that will allow for greater usability."

To accompany the mobile sites, interactive and engaging iPad specific ads, including the Catfish Ad, were developed and are served solely to visitors accessing the sites via iPads. The Catfish ad is a banner ad that hovers at the bottom of the screen. When a visitor scrolls up and down the site the ad maintains its place on the bottom of the screen. When a visitor scrolls over the ad it expands to provide additional information from the sponsor, including videos, White Papers or other assets.

"IDG Enterprise's back-end site data can interpret what device a visitor is using and serves the appropriate creative to engage that visitor," said Pinsky. "With more visitors accessing our sites through their mobile devices, we want to provide an innovative mobile specific experience that takes advantage of the platform which helps our advertising clients to engage these visitors. Since the launch of the Catfish ad, we have had several successful campaigns with vendors."

Given the success of the Catfish ad, IDG Enterprise has also created the Video IMU program which allows a short video to be played in an IMU position on the iPad version of our site.
