ALAMEDA, CA--(Marketwire - April 5, 2011) - Metaswitch Networks, a leading provider of carrier systems and communications software solutions, today announced the appointment of Dr. William M. Coughran, Jr. and Jeffry R. Allen as independent members of its board of directors.
Dr. Coughran, currently Senior Vice President of Engineering at Google Inc., brings more than 20 years' experience building highly scalable computer systems and cloud-based services, as a leading industry technologist, a researcher at various institutions including Stanford and Duke Universities and as the head of Bell Labs' Computing Science Research Center. In addition, Dr. Coughran brings start-up CEO experience with Entrisphere (which he co-founded), and serves on the board of Clearwell Systems.
Mr. Allen, who will assume the role of Audit Committee Chair, most recently served as Executive Vice President of Business Operations for NetApp, Inc. and as Chief Financial Officer from 1996 to 2002. He brings extensive telecom and computing industry experience from Bay Networks, SynOptics and a 17-year career with Hewlett-Packard. He currently serves on several boards, including NetApp.
