Barrick Appoints Richard McCreary, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 5, 2011) - Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:ABX)(TSX:ABX) today announced it has appointed Richard McCreary to the position of Senior Vice President, Corporate Development.

In this role, Mr. McCreary will have overall responsibility for Barrick's global Corporate Development activities.

Mr. McCreary has been Head of CIBC World Markets' Global Mining investment banking group since 2009. He joined the bank in 2003, and has advised companies involved in some of the world's largest and most complex mining transactions, including BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Placer Dome and Falconbridge. Prior to joining CIBC, Mr. McCreary was Vice President at TD Securities' investment banking group. In addition to 14 years of investment banking experience, he worked in the Noranda/Falconbridge organization for eight years in various areas, including metals marketing, geophysics, geological engineering and technology development.
